LEARN ABOUT WHO YOU ARE!
Each of us sees oneself in a certain way, our so-called self-image. Others, however, who know us from our social or professional environments, also have certain perceptions about who we are and what we are like: our public-image, so to speak.
With this App you can get feedback about these different viewpoints, based on 100 colloquial terms for personality traits and behavioral characteristics:
Just rate yourself (once) and then have others rate you (up to 10 people in the Basic version, as many people as you like in the Pro version). The data are then computed to contrast one’s own perspective with that of others, comparing self-image and public-image.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT VERSIONS?
In the Basic version you can:
• make a self-rating (and re-rate youself later if you feel like it)
• save up to 10 other-ratings (you can delete ratings to have new people rate you)
• compare individual other-ratings with your self-rating
• personalize the App with your photo on the start page
In the Pro version you can:
• make a self-rating (and re-rate youself later if you feel like it)
• make as many other-ratings as you like (and delete them later if you like)
• group other-raters in groups you define
• compare individual other-ratings with your self-rating
• compare group ratings with your self rating
• make other-ratings in English or German
• personalize the app with your photo on the start page
Upgrading from Basic to Pro version is easy! You can do so from within the App: Just tap on the Settings icon (gear wheel) and flip two pages to find the Upgrade page. Tip: You can simply restore the upgrade by tapping on restore.
EXPLORE YOUR PERSONALITY!
Out of the 100 personality traits, each other-rater will most likely perceive different traits and characteristics in you. Examining and analyzing this feedback from other people can offer you an excellent opportunity to constructively review your own self image. You can start by checking the deviations between your self-image and your public-image:
Positive deviations come about when we receive positive feedback on characteristics or behaviors which we view as positive, but which we did not think we possessed or others would attribute to us.
Negative deviations refer to the feedback on characteristics or behaviors that we do not agree with and may not like, and which we therefore blocked out from our self-image.
These positive and negative deviations (“blind spots”) offer us a great starting point to expand, stabilize or correct our own self-image to one that is more in sync with reality. Whereever the results deviate from, or match your self-rating, you will find that some interesting details emerge.
HOW DOES THIS THING WORK?
The App is based on a scientific principle called 360-degree feedback, where 360 degrees refer to the fact that people from all around you give you feedback. This is an interesting aspect: Participants will rate you in how they know you, be it in work or social situations, while others may experience you largely in competitive gatherings.
Thus, when you look at the results, an interesting approach can be to check which traits are perceived by all other-raters and which ones are specific to only a particular person or group and how the individual other-ratings match your self-rating.
TALK ABOUT THE RESULTS WITH PEOPLE WHO RATED YOU!
Personal conversations with individual other-raters give you an opportunity to find out strengths and weaknesses about yourself, and finally discuss with the raters where potential differences might arise from: is it a one-sided perception of the respective other-rater, is it a blind spot of yours or is it something else?
Whether or not you will want to change your self-image and your behavior is entirely up to you. For many users, 360-degree feedbacks have initiated positive change processes, and many also report constructive experiences concerning the further development of their own personality.
